THE LOST EXPLORERS

We held an exclusive dinner at Claridge’s in celebration of Tim Walker’s debut film The Lost Explorer, transforming the Ballroom with layers of mosquito nets, billy cans and wooden tables. Guests entered the room by crawling through a vintage camping tent on their hands and knees! Once in, we all had dinner before enjoying our makeshift photo studio featuring an explorer’s dress up box, producing sepia-toned photographs for everyone to take home.

BACKSTAGE PASS

Our models donned vivid red wigs for our Spring Summer 2011 show, held at the beautiful Claridge’s Hotel in London. They all looked fantastic, but it was hard to tell one from the other!

RUNWAY PUP

Our in-house Mulberry mascot Gili Campbell may only be six weeks old but she certainly has the makings of a great runway pup – she’s just not quite ready yet!

A SINGLE YELLOW FEATHER

Renowned British photographer Tim Walker is known for his beautiful, ethereal images. The Lost Explorer is his first foray into films; a story about a young suburban girl, Evelyn, who finds a lost explorer lying injured at the bottom of her garden. The film contains stunning scenes including a dream sequence where Evelyn and the explorer go on an adventure and see a ship filled with 300 canaries.

As patron of this project, we hosted a screening and dinner for the film’s UK debut, and wanted a special way to invite guests. Referencing the canary dream scene from the film, we sent our colonially-dressed courier to deliver bespoke bird cages containing the invitations, as well a single yellow feather.

DOLL STORY

One of our inspirations for our Spring Summer 2011 collection was beautiful trompe l’oeil line drawings by the artist Natasha Law, who drew the oversized doll which became the invite for our Fashion Week shows. But getting from original drawing to final invitation includes many stages; mixing a special neon ink, printing presses, cutting out the doll parts and using rivets to manually attach the doll’s limbs.
