Molly Ratcliff was the winner of the Mulberry Accessories Award at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week.
What went through your head when Emma announced you as the winner?
I was very shocked and overwhelmed, as I really didn’t expect it. I felt it was an honour to be even shortlisted for the award, never mind actually winning it! I know I was nervous, especially about going on stage – I was worried I might trip! I was just glad that I hadn’t worn heels …
What were the inspirations behind your portfolio and creations?
When I think about the inspiration behind my work I find that it comes from my normal day-to-day living. If I spot something I like, I take note of it and try to use it later in a design or illustration. I never leave home without my camera.
GFW supports British talent – what is your favourite thing about Britain?
My favourite thing about Britain is the tea, as my mum says: ‘it’s never the same anywhere else in the world!’
We love a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake in the afternoon … how do you relax?
I am usually most relaxed when I’m sat in front of the television with Home and Away on while illustrating on my computer … and munching on a Double Decker!
If you could be anywhere in five minutes, where would it be?
A round trip to home: I certainly believe the saying “home is where the heart is”.
It takes me … to get ready for a night out.
Usually around three hours as I get ready with my friends and this normally involves a drink or two and lots of gossip!
… Good luck in the future Molly!
