Lana Del Rey’s beautiful new video for new single National Anthem.
We’ve opened our first store in San Francisco on Grant Avenue. To celebrate our arrival on the West Coast, we hosted a launch event with five co-hosts from Vogue’s ’100 list’ of talented and influential women: Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Connie Nielsen, Sabrina Buell, Rachael Mann and Mackenzie Burdick.
We kept the evening true to our roots, serving food from London’s famous restaurant J Sheekey Fish Restaurant and Oyster Bar and drinks by Herefordshire-based and family-run Chase Vodka. The store has its own gallery and exhibition space on the second floor, which for the evening showcased an exhibition of British photography from the past few decades, handpicked from the Vogue archives.
If you’re in any of these cities, try and pop along to a current exhibition, there is so much on at the moment and we’ve heard good things about these.

Through hard work and a distinctive vision, Herb Ritts (1952–2002) became one of the top photographers in the 1980s. Ritts’s aesthetic incorporated facets of life in and around Los Angeles. He often made use of the bright California sunlight to produce bold contrasts, and his preference for outdoor locations such as the desert and the beach helped to separate his work from his peers.

Our newest store has opened, and it’s nestled among the iconic streets of San Francisco, California.
The store is in a beautiful, traditional nineteenth century building on Grant Avenue. As well as having enough space to showcase our ever-growing collection of accessories, shoes and womenswear, it is also our first store with a dedicated gallery space.
The store was designed in close collaboration with renowned British architects Universal Design Studio and, as with our flagship stores on New Bond Street in London and Spring Street in New York, is designed to reflect our dedication to craftsmanship and heritage, as well as complementing the building’s own personality.
When you’re next in San Francisco, we look forward to welcoming you into the store. And thank you so much to San Francisco and its residents for such a warm welcome to the area!

Our Autumn Winter 2012 campaign is a beautiful and evocative series of images shot by renowned British photographer Tim Walker.
The story plays on the romance and darkness of children’s fairytales, inspired by creative director Emma Hill’s visions of explorers, mysterious stories and fantasy travels. It features Lindsey Wixson in her third campaign for us, travelling deep into the woods and meeting two giant furry forest creatures.

With huge thanks to Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme at House and Holme, Tim Walker, Andy Hillman, Lindsey Wixson, Jane How, Sam McKnight, Val Garland, Emma Hill, Georgia Fendley and everyone else in the team for creating and bringing to life our Autumn Winter 2012 campaign.
We’ve left our heart in San Francisco…
Mulberry is opening soon on Grant Avenue.

Last week, Laura Smallwood was chosen as the winner of the Mulberry-sponsored Accessories Award at Graduate Fashion Week. She was chosen by our Design Team for her ‘outstanding portfolio and thoughtful ideas.’ Laura takes us through her winning portfolio and inspiration:
“The theme of my collection – ‘The Voyage’ – plays on the inappropriate and sometimes amusing effect of the delicate balance between preparation and exploration. Old family photographs from the early twentieth century illustrate a notion of being inappropriately dressed and prepared in one’s surroundings; formal costume was worn for climbing and other outdoor pursuits. In this case, the result is more comical, as the individuals seem completely juxtaposed to their background.
My collection was influenced by the photographic evidence of these two related areas of research. Shapes and textures from adventures like The Terra Nova Expedition are exaggerated; this inflated manipulation of scale being inspired by my grandfather’s amusing and impractical mountaineering attire.
The initial inspiration was a photograph of my grandfather (who died before I was born) sitting on a rock during a climbing trip in the far north west Scotland, dressed only in a suit and tie, which greatly juxtaposes the surroundings as he was on a climbing expedition in winter!”

We met artist Rick Moody at Frieze New York. His current literary artwork is on GPS and being lost and found; the love/hate relationship with both satellite navigations and traditional maps.
Here, Rick explains how he found art in the idea of getting lost, and how this translated into the surroundings of Randall’s Island, New York.
