FARMERS’ MARKETS

One of our passions is amazing food. At our London Fashion Week dinner at The Savile Club in February chef Tom Aikens chose regional and seasonal ingredients for the evening’s menu, and local farmers’ markets are great for fresh, locally sourced produce. Our correspondent in San Francisco visited the city’s famous markets to see how it celebrates all things food.

A big part of San Francisco’s food culture is the access to really great, fresh, delicious ingredients. There are impressive farmer’s markets dotted all around the city; probably the biggest is the Ferry Plaza Famer’s Market – a true feast to the eyes, crowded, colourful, and with endless tasting samples. And if you don’t make it to the markets there are great stores like the brilliant BiRite Market with it’s amazing local and farm-direct produce, organic meats, artisanal products and knowledgeable staff.
